For those not content to relax by the swimming pool, soak up the sun on the beach or watch the world going by from a cafe, Valras Plage is an excellent base for various activities. Please note some of the commercial activities operate reduced hours outside the peak season of July/August or close entirely.

Sailing - During the season catamarans and windsurfers are available for hire from the beach. Tuition is also available.
5 minutes walk from the villa you'll find Le Stad where tennis courts can be hired.
In the harbour area many people fish from the pier and during the season boats regularly leave, morning or afternoon, for either fishing or coastal sight-seeing trips. Jet skis are available for hire with "taster" sessions and tuition available.
Just outside the town of Valras Plage you will find 'Sun Karting', http://www.sunkarting.fr, which, during the season, offers go karts on the specially constructed track complete with bridge.
In the Region
For horse riding there are stables at; Portiragnes Plage, Serignan Plage and Vendres Plage all relatively close. Also just outside Portiragnes is the Réserve Naturelle de Roque-Haute, an area of coastal marsh, "Le Grand Maire", beside the Canal du Midi which has waymarked trails of 2.5, 9 and 12 KM for cycling (see www.lesvelosdeportiragnes.com for bike hire) or walking and is a good place for birdwatching.
At Vias Plage mini golf is offered on a choice of 2 novel courses and there is a classic theme park with roller coaster rides and other thrill rides.
Aqua-Land, a water based amusment park with a wide variety of flume rides is found at Cap D'Agde, see http://www.aqualand.fr. Whilst closer, at Narbonne-Plage, you'll find a smaller and cheaper variant Aqua-Jet.
The nearest 18-hole golf course is the par 72 Golf Saint Thomas about 30 mins drive away. Clubs are available for hire. They have a website in English http://www.golfsaintthomas.com.
Also, just outside Béziers, is the high rope adventure course in the forest at Bois de Bourbaki, see http://www.beziersaventure.com or for the animal lovers visit the Val D'Hérault nature Zoo & Parc (See http://www.zooherault.com with it's interactive activities.
Further afield
The rivers flowing down from the Haut Languedoc National Park provide the opportunity for some excellent Canoeing. At Roquebrun and many other places in the Haut Languedoc just a 1 hour drive away, there are several companies offer morning and afternoon excursions.
Hiking: The Parc Regional du Haut Languedoc, provides some excellent walking. This can be round the many lakes, in the forests or picturesque gorges such as the Gorges d'Héric or Gorge de l'Hérault. The main centres for this region are St-Pons-de-Thomieres and Clermont l'Hérault where the tourist offices can provide guide books and maps.
For the more adventurous walker the Pyrenees is easily accessible along the fast A9 péage giving access to both the Carnigou and Carlit massifs. In all regions you will find that the trails are well marked.
